Homosexuality

Fredric wrote and said, " I stumbled upon your site by accident but decided to look around anyway.  I am gay and have been for most of my life and I noticed you don't say anything about it on your site.  Are you afraid to mention the subject, or are you secretly gay yourself?"

Thanks for writing in your question Fredric, and I can assure you I am not gay.  I have never wrote anything about this subject on my site because it had not came up yet.  However, with your question, I now have a reason to write about it.  I can assure you that you will not like my answer.

Before getting into what the Bible says about homosexuality, let me first say that God loves all people, even those who engage in homosexual acts.  John 3:16 says, "for God so loved the World..."  2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God is "...not willing that any should perish..."

The truth is, God love all people, regardless of what sin they are involved in... but He does not love the sin.

Also, we should point out that homosexuality is a sin, just like any other sin.  God calls homosexual behavior an abomination.  This is the strongest negative word in God's vocabulary.  BUT, He also calls dishonesty an abomination in Proverbs 11:1.  And in Proverbs 11:20 He goes on to say that someone who has a false, or dishonest heart is an abomination.  Then in Proverbs 6:17 God goes on to say that a person who lies, outwardly adorns themselves to much, and those who cause strife...as well as those who kill others without just cause are all abominations in His eyes.

The truth is, ALL sin is an abomination in God's eyes.  So, we should not be pointing our fingers at one group of people and acting as if they are worse then we are.  "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).  "There is non righteous, no not one" (Romans 3:10).  The Bible also tells us that Jesus died for all sins...even the sin of homosexuality (Mark 3:28).

Now that we have seen that all sins are an abomination, that God loves all people regardless of their sins, and that He died for all of our sins, let us take a look at the sin of homosexuality, since this is what the question was about.

Lev 18:22  Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Lev 20:13  If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Both of these verses tel us clearly that God does not want Men having sex with other men.

Rom 1:26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly,

Here God tells us that women with women and men with men is "vile", "unseemly" and unnatural.

1Co 6:9  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, (Prostitute)  nor idolaters, (image worshipers) nor adulterers, (sex other then spouse)  nor effeminate, (boys acting like girls)nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (homosexual)

1Co 6:10  Nor thieves, nor covetous, (wanting that which belongs to others)  nor drunkards, nor revilers, (those who abuse others)nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Among others, these verses tell us clearly that those who engage in homosexual acts will not go to Heaven.

There are many other verses that teach the very same things as mentioned here.  In fact the Bible is full of references to the ungodly act of homosexuality.  Sodom, and Gomorrah, as well as three other towns mentioned in the Bible were destroyed by God because they were completely given over to homosexuality.  God further tells us in His Word that he made "Male and Female" and that the two of them were to "cleave" together.

As well as the Bible, nature itself, as well as common sense, tells us that this lifestyle is not right.  You said you have practiced this lifestyle for most of your life, and that you "stumbled upon my site by accident".  This tells me that you were not raised with a proper understanding of God, Christ, or the Holy Bible.  Or, if you were, somewhere along the line you rebelled against it.  Fredric, it is not to late.  You can (just like anyone involved in sin), still repent of this sin, turn to God, and trust in His salvation through Jesus Christ.  I pray you will make that decision.
